Professor Catherine Turner RN, BA, Grad Dip Ed, MN, PhD is the project leader of the Nurses & Midwives e-cohort study, which is funded by the Australian Research Council and a range of industry partners, in addition to leading the establishment of the Graduate e-cohort study. In 2006 Cathy received a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award to spend several months as an Honorary Research Fellow at Harvard University [Medical School] learning about longitudinal study methods from the Nurses' Health Study research group. Cathy was awarded an NHMRC Career Development Award [2007-2011] for her research on the e-cohort study. In 2008 Cathy commenced as Head of the University of Queensland's School of Nursing and Midwifery, was awarded a Distinguished Alumni Award from Flinders University and became a member of the Board of Directors of the Mater Health Services Board. Cathy has published 70 peer reviewed journal publications and conference presentations and attracted over $3 million in competitive ARC and NHMRC research grant funding within the last 5 years as the lead investigator.
Associate Professor Fiona Bogossian: RN, Midwife, DipAppSci (NEd) QUT, BAppSci (with Distinction) QUT, MPH Griffith, PhD UQ is currently Acting Director of Research and Postgraduate Research Coordinator at The University of Queensland. She has extensive clinical and educational experience in midwifery and nursing. She joined The University of Queensland in 2005 and pioneered the establishment of the first contemporary Bachelor of Midwifery program in Queensland. Fiona was appointed to the Ministerial Maternity Services Review Steering Committee in 2005. In 2007 she commenced as the Chair of the Midwifery Peer Review Panel and as a member of the Education Committee of the Queensland Nursing Council. She received a Churchill Fellowship in 2006 for Improving the Health of All Australians. Fiona's PhD addressed maternal morbidity after childbirth. Her current research focuses on the epidemiology of birth and motherhood, the evaluation of maternity services and the scholarship & innovation in teaching and learning. Fiona is the Principal Midwifery Investigator in the Nurses and Midwives e-cohort study.
Dr Anthony G Tuckett RN, Dip App Sc (Nautical) (AMC), BN (ACU), Post Grad Dip Phil (UQ), MA (Research) (QUT), PhD (QUT)has a clinical background in paediatrics, emergency and intensive care nursing, qualifications in applied ethics and a PhD in public health (qualitative). In 2001 he was awarded the Centaur Doctoral Fellowship (Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses). He joined the School in 2005 and has taught at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, was the inaugural Year 3 Courses Coordinator and is presently the International Coordinator (Academic). An aged-care researcher at the Research and Practice Development Centre [UQ/Blue Care], he is also the Deputy Director, Australian Centre for Evidence Based Community Care [ACEBCC]. A Principle Investigator on the Nurses & Midwives e-cohort study he led the e-cohort sub-study Caring In Aged-Care. Since 2006 in partnership with others, Anthony has completed funded and commissioned research ($385 117); was an investigator for the 2007 ‘National Evaluation of the Open Disclosure Standard’; is an investigator for the 2008-2010 ‘Open Disclosure Research and Indicator Development, including the ‘100 Patient Stories Project’’ (ACQSHC). With over twenty publications – notably in the area of truth-telling, he has an additional 14 publications either currently under review or in-press.
